MIL-DTL-1298D (w/ AMENDMENT 1), MILITARY SPECIFICATION: GUN, MACHINE; CALIBER .50, BROWNING, M2, HEAVY BARREL (24 MAR 2008) [MIL-DTL-001298D USED IN LIEU OF MIL-G-1298A]., This specification is approved for interim use by the U.S. Army Armaments Research, Development and Engineering Center (ARDEC). Other activities in the Department of Defense may use this interim revision or may continue using MIL-G-1298A. This detail specification prescribes the requirements and identifies the verification procedures for the gun, machine, caliber .50, browning, M2, heavy barrel, hereafter referred to simply as the M2.
